WHAT IS JUNIOR THEATER FESTIVAL YOU ASK!
Takes place in Atlanta Georgia
JANUARY 14-18, 2027
Produced by i-Theatrics NY and Sponsored by Music Theatre International, Disney Musicals and Playbill. Junior Theater Festival is a huge festival dedicated to young people and musical theatre.
The Junior Theater Festival brings together people from all aspects of theater, ranging from students and teachers to Broadway professionals, under one roof to celebrate outstanding student musical theatre productions.
The festival offers an enthusiastic environment for students and teachers to interact with thousands of others who share their passion for musical theater.
Student groups perform 15 minutes from MTI’s Broadway Junior Collection musical for adjudication by leading theater professionals. Groups are rated in the areas of music, acting, dance and overall performance. The adjudicators offer constructive criticism to each group to encourage further learning in key areas.
Broadway professionals and master teachers from across the country offer interactive workshops in Music, Acting & Dance for the kids that are registered.
A one-of-a-kind main stage event hosted by Junior Theater Festival creator Tim McDonald, it’s a discussion with professionals from across the theatrical industry about their unique journeys and remarkable accomplishments.
Sunday Night Concert. We have enjoyed many concerts featuring some of the best performers including Cynthia Erivo, Megan Hilty, Stephanie J Block, Sebastian Arcelus, Cassie Leavy, Pasek & Paul, and Micheal James Scott. It’s always a fun dress up event for everyone.
The fun begins Thursday with our arrival in Atlanta, and ends Sunday night where everyone dresses up and attends a special performance Concert curated specifically for our JTF audience followed by our pajama party once we get back to the hotel.
Add spontaneous student sing-alongs, meeting new friends, swapping theater wrist bands, infamous balloon arches and let’s not forget the pony! This is sure to be a weekend our students will never forget.
