Purple Box Theater Policies
& Procedures

Registration & Enrollment

  • Registration is first-come, first-served until the class reaches capacity.

  • A separate registration form is required for each child.

  • All registration and tuition fees are non-refundable.

Payments & Tuition

  • Monthly payments are due by the 1st of each month.

  • A $25 late fee will be applied if payment is received after the 5th (or 7th, depending on your class structure).

  • A $40 fee applies to all returned checks. Checks should be made payable to The Purple Box Theater.

  • Payment plans are available. If using a payment plan, you are responsible for the entire balance for the production.

  • No refunds will be given for class withdrawals.

Payment Options:

  • Online via the Payments and Donations link.

  • Direct PayPal or Zelle (no fee if sent as "Friends & Family") to: crh22007@aol.com (Cathy Holbrook, 818-642-4665)

  • Cash or check at the theater.

  • Do not use Venmo for class payments.

Communications

  • Emails may occasionally land in spam/junk folders. Please mark us as "not spam."

  • When important emails are sent, a Remind Text will also be sent to notify you.

Additional Policies

  • Purple Box Theater reserves the right to cancel or combine classes, change instructors, rehearsals, or performance details.

  • Only registered students may attend class. Non-registered children may not be left at the theater.

  • Students must arrive at least 5 minutes before class and be picked up promptly.

  • Repeated absences or tardiness may affect participation or casting.

Media Release
By registering, you grant permission for The Purple Box Theater to use images or video of your child (or yourself) in classes, rehearsals, or performances for promotional and educational use. These may appear in brochures, videos, and online platforms including our website and social media channels.

Class Expectations

What to Wear:

  • Girls: Leggings & t-shirt with hair pulled back in a ponytail

  • Boys: Jazz pants or athletic pants and t-shirt (no denim)

  • Shoes: Dance shoes or tennis shoes (no sandals, Crocs, boots, or flip-flops)

What to Bring:

  • Water bottle (labeled with name)

  • Script

  • Pencil or pen

Auditions & Casting

  • The first rehearsal includes placement auditions. Everyone will receive a role.

  • Auditions include small group singing, individual songs (if interested in a lead), and a group dance portion.

  • Roles are assigned by the second class.

Casting Considerations:

  • Acting: Storytelling, clarity, inflection

  • Singing: Rhythm, diction, vocal range, storytelling, comfort

  • Dance: Expression, coordination, character, enjoyment

All roles are important and contribute to the show’s success. Please encourage your child to be proud of their part!

Drop Off & Pick Up

  • Students should wait on the front porch. A staff member will escort them inside.

  • After class, students will be brought back to the porch for pick-up.

  • The lobby and classroom spaces are closed to non-registered individuals.

Missed Classes

  • If your child must miss class, notify the director or text Cathy at 818-642-4665.

Sickness & Fever Policy

  • Please do not send your child to class if they have a fever or are feeling unwell.

  • Children must be fever-free for 48 hours before returning.

  • Contact us at the number above to notify of absences.

Production Class Policies

  • Students enrolled in a Production Class (Musical Theater or Theater) are expected to complete the full season.

  • Once cast, roles cannot be reassigned; no late registration allowed.

  • You are financially responsible for the entire production class once cast.

Broadway Kids & Improv Classes

  • A 30-day written notice must be submitted to our administrator if a student drops.

  • You are responsible for tuition until 30 days after written notice is received.

Camps & Workshops

  • A registration deposit is required to hold a child’s place.

  • The remaining balance is due one week before the camp or workshop begins.

  • No refunds are issued once the camp starts, but credit may be applied toward a future program.

Costume List

  • A costume list will be emailed within a few weeks of casting.

  • A Remind Text will notify you when the list is sent.

Rehearsal & Show Policies

  • All rehearsal and show conflicts must be submitted in writing on the first day of rehearsal.

Remind Text Group

  • New or returning students will receive an invite to our Remind Text group.

  • This is our primary method of communication during the semester.

  • If you've previously blocked Remind, please unblock it before the session starts.

  • If you haven’t received an invite by the second rehearsal, text us at 818-642-4665.
